The Business Beats Cancer West of England Business Board is a group of committed individuals uniting the business community to raise funds for cancer research in Bristol. They aim to help CRUK beat cancer once and for all. COVID-19 threatens to severely impact vital research. Sandy Hinks sits on the Board where she continues to raise awareness and support fundraising.

Over the next 4-5 years, CRUK may be forced to reduce spending by £150m; but we believe in the power of their research to make a significant impact against cancer. Bristol is home to a paediatric Experimental Cancer Medicine Centre - a unique partnership between CRUK and the National Institute for Health Research in England. This brings together lab scientists and cancer doctors to speed up the flow of ideas and new cancer treatments from the lab to the clinic. CRUK recently awarded the biggest ever research grant to Bristol scientists. The money will help unpick the causes and mechanisms of cancer and why it progresses in some people and not others. Bristol is an important city in the fight against cancer with a growing reputation as a centre of excellence for scientific research.

Bristol Zero Tolerance is a new initiative set up by Bristol Women’s Commission working towards Bristol becoming a city free from gender-based violence, abuse, harassment and exploitation.

Stepping Up is a ground breaking and award winning diversity leadership programme.

It has won awards for excellence in Diversity and Inclusion, mentoring and sets an exemplar for a regional talent pipeline.

Stepping Up is designed for people from Black, Asian and Minority ethnic communities, women and disabled people who live and work in Bristol and the wider region.

The Guild of Guardians is established to promote the good name of the City of Bristol, its traditions, its trade and its commerce. It aims to contribute to and improve the quality of the Civic life of the City of Bristol. In partnership with the City, the Guild continues to support and enhance the Office of Lord Mayor. Membership of the Guild affords the opportunity to engage with significant decision-makers across the full spectrum of Bristol life and to make a difference to the city.

Ecologi was initially founded by a group of environmentalists in Bristol, UK. They were frustrated that many of us are not able to contribute enough to the colossal climate problem.

Ecologi we invest our money into a broad range of projects that are able to evidence that they are reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Each month we support a range of carbon reduction projects that are certified at the very highest level by Gold Standard and equivalent.
