The Restore Trust & The Key – are a partnership which helps to address one of the most pressing issues facing ex-offenders employment – by providing 26 paid roles at their café / outlet.  

The Campaign

Moon Executive Search played an integral part in forming this brand-new charity by sourcing a Chair, Treasurer and seven new Trustees.

We were seeking candidates with skillsets and capabilities gained in commercial roles across HR, Legal, Marketing, Professional Services, Retail, Healthcare and Educational. Excellent networks and strong community links within Bristol and the surrounding areas were crucial.

Our Approach

We reached out to candidates with experience in rehabilitation, criminal justice, safeguarding, launching new products, customer service and people development. In terms of soft skills, strong communication, empathy and emotional intelligence were essential.

The Challenge

There was a real passion for helping ex-offenders and a lot of genuine interest for the charity, which led to a high response.

Our challenge was filtering through the number of applicants to identify potential candidates which not only had the right skill sets and background but who would also work well together and form a balanced board.

The Solution

Our Charity recruitment team put together a full briefing pack which included information about the Charity, the Role and Trustee Duties & responsibilities. This pack was then utilised when briefing the candidates to assess them against the search criteria before presenting a shortlist to the client.

Away days were held prior to interviews, which enabled candidates to visit the site and meet the other prospective board members.
