Success for St Paul's Carnival

Still going from strength to strength after its return from a two year break, St Pauls Carnival CIC selected Moon Executive Search to conduct a search campaign to source an Executive Director.

On conclusion of the successful campaign we spoke to Marti Burgess, Chair and Sally Cordwell, Non-Executive Director for St Paul’s Carnival, to find out more about their experience partnering with Moon Executive Search.

The requirements

We asked Moon Executive Search to source an exceptional individual who possessed the experience and skillset necessary to work in a highly challenging and demanding role. The key requirements were that they had to have strong diplomatic and relationship building skills, the gravitas to operate with colleagues at a senior level, have an artistic sense of direction and have event management experience.

In addition, as the next carnival was only a few months away and the organising of the event was already in process, it was extremely important that an appointment was made in a timely manner.

Working with Moon Exec Search

Moon Executive Search understood and were fully invested in sourcing the perfect person for this role.

Due to their strong Arts and Cultural network they were able to access candidates who we might not have considered and consequently they provided a short-list of highly credible candidates.

Our experience with Moon was a really positive one and we found them to be professional, thorough and efficient from the very beginning.

The Outcome

The board were very happy with the candidates put forward by Moon Executive Search and at the end of a thorough process were pleased to be able to offer the position to LaToyah McAllister-Jones.

Vanessa Moon Director of Moon Executive Search said ’we were honoured to be selected to handle the search for one of Bristol’s biggest and longest running attractions. What was upmost in the campaign was to bring in a Director who would run a world-class Carnival and continue the fantastic links with community, arts and also the wonderful music. We were delighted to attract     LaToyah McAllister-Jones to the role.’

LaToyah said, ‘My experience throughout the recruitment process was a really positive one. The communication between Vanessa and myself was consistent and clear and I felt looked after the whole way through. Due to the detailed brief I was given I was able to fully understand the requirements of the role and be able to present myself in the best way’.
