Wiltshire & Swindon Sport: Directors (of a Trustee Style)
Wiltshire and Swindon Sport (WASP) is a Community Interest Company (Reg no. 7815573), it works with a range of partners throughout the UK and the county and fulfils the role of Active Partnership for the county of Wiltshire.
There are 43 Active Partnerships across the UK, all of whom are linked together via the Active Partnership National Network. As well partnering with Sport England who work towards making sure everyone regardless of age, background, or level of ability is able to take part in sports and physical activity. WASP’s vision is that the right sport and physical activity opportunities are available to everyone in Wiltshire and Swindon.
WASP is now seeking several new Directors to add to its existing Board. The Directors are responsible for the general control and administration of the company including:
Main responsibilities:
The overall governance of Wiltshire and Swindon Sport.
Ensuring that the organisation operates in a manner which enables it to fulfil its community interest purpose and requirements as set out in the Memorandum and Articles of Association.
Pay due attention to company law and bear in mind the strategies and aspirations of stakeholders.
Promoting and upholding the reputation of the organisation.
Knowledge & Experience:
Ideally you have held a senior management position in the public, private or voluntary sectors and experience of working on the Boards and/or committees of charitable, partnership or voluntary organisations.
You will need a good knowledge and experience of the relevant formal and informal networks in Wiltshire and Swindon and further afield.
You should have an interest in sport and / or physical activity but specialist knowledge of these areas, whilst desirable, is not essential.
Ability to think objectively and make sound, independent judgements
A driven mindset to assist in growing and developing new opportunities
The ability to develop strong, collaborative relationships with existing partnerships and new partners.
