Seeks new Chair (Unpaid Voluntary Role)

An opportunity to join the Board of the Charity Home-Start Bristol.

Home-Start Bristol is looking for an exceptional individual to lead its Board as Chair of Trustees; it is essential that the successful candidate has charity experience as a Trustee or Company Director.

The Chair will lead the Board and staff in setting and delivering Home Start Bristol’s strategic objectives.  The Chair will champion our Vision Mission & Values acting, along with the Manager and other Trustees, as the public face of the charity.

An effective Chair will have a full understanding of the requirements needed for good governance, financial acumen and excellent skills at building relationships. In addition, the Chair of Home-Start Bristol must have a strong interest in supporting the wellbeing of families with young children and, ideally, previous experience of working in this area.

Time and Commitment: Currently 12 Board meetings a year with a view to reducing this to 6 per year, plus other meetings as necessary, as well as line management and supervision of the Manager.  Time commitment is currently around 12 hours per week with an aspiration to reduce this too.  The Chair is also expected to represent Home-Start Bristol (HSB) as required.

Remuneration: This role is not remunerated but travel and other reasonable expenses will be reimbursed.
