Chair of the Board of Trustees

Approximately 3 days per month, Voluntary, Headquarters based in Bath

BANES Citizens Advice is an independent charity that provides free, impartial advice and information on a range of issues. With offices in Bath, Keynsham and Midsomer Norton, they provide specialist advice and help to make a difference to people facing a variety of challenges from employment to housing and debt.

There’s never been a more exciting and critical time to join this organisation as they can now move back to offering some face-to-face services and continue to meet the additional demand created by the pandemic and its aftermath. Being well placed in the local community, they enjoy good relations with their funders and other key stakeholders.

The role of Chair is key to the future success of the organisation.  Leading a dedicated group of staff and volunteers, supporting a strong existing board of Trustees all who are passionate about the aims of the organisation which is to improve the lives of the residents of Bath and North-East Somerset, you will need:

• Strong leadership ideally at a senior management level.

• At least 2 years of being a Trustee of a Charity or similar non-profit organisation, ideally with some Chairing experience. 

• A good insight into the issues that affect equalities in the BANES area and the context in which Citizens Advice services are delivered.

• A sound understanding of financial management and risk management.

• Supporting an organisation through a period of change, particularly in the current transformative period.

• Ideally the Chair will bring some knowledge of the needs in the West of England area.
