Chief Executive - The James Tudor Foundation
c£50k + benefits, Bristol
A fantastic opportunity to join The James Tudor Foundation as its new CEO.
The James Tudor Foundation is a grant-awarding charity with the principal object of the relief of human sickness. The Foundation operates without geographic limitation and exclusively through UK registered charities. The Foundation has a great tradition of funding life-changing projects in the UK and with UK registered charities working overseas.
The James Tudor Foundation was funded by an endowment following the transfer of membership rights from Bristol Contributory Welfare Association Limited (BCWA) to Hospital Savings Association in 2004. The fund currently stands at c£36m.
We are now seeking a new Chief Executive who will lead the organisation. The new CEO will be expected to lead all aspects of The James Tudor Foundation’s management and operations. You will be supported by a small, committed, motivated and highly experienced staff team of one full time and one part time person.
The role is multi-faceted:
Accountable to the Board of Trustees for the overall management and performance of the Foundation.
Together with the Chair, to enable the Board to fulfil its functions and to ensure that the Board receives appropriate advice and information on all relevant matters.
Responsible for the management of the grants programme and the recruitment, supervision, motivation and retention of staff.
A team player, with an ability to adopt a hands-on approach or to delegate as appropriate.
To act as Company Secretary, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and appropriate principles of best practice.
The new CEO will have genuine empathy for The James Tudor Foundation and fully understand and embrace the organisation’s traditions, aims, values and strategic goals. We are seeking candidates with general management experience at a senior level, ideally within a charity environment encompassing finance, budgeting and administration. A background in a healthcare, medical or science related field would be useful. Some home working is possible and there is an occasional need to travel in the UK to visit beneficiaries and their projects.
