Moon team SHINE

On the 16th September five members of the Moon Executive Search team braved the autumnal evening weather to raise money for Cancer Research UK.

They completed the Bristol SHINE Night Walk, which is one of the fundraising initiatives organised by the West of England’s Business Beats Cancer Board.

Complete with glow-in-the-dark T-shirts, glow sticks and other fancy dress items (as well as an additional inflatable companion) they set out at 8.00 in the evening to walk 10k around Bristol from Bristol Harbourside to Lloyds Amphitheatre. Despite some sore feet the next morning, the team had a great evening and thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

However, the main purpose of this walk was to raise money for Cancer Research, and the team successfully raised over £700, with the inclusion of gift aid bringing it to £883! The night in total raised over £80,000, which is a huge testament to everyone who took part in the walk, and those who sponsored them.

As Sandy Hinks, Head of Moon’s Charity Practice, Board Member of Bristol Beats Cancer West of England, and one of the walkers commented, “I wanted to put the money raised back into local research here in Bristol. I have been lucky enough to visit the CRUK research centre based at Southmead Hospital and to meet and listen to some of the world’s leading researchers in cancer to see the work they are doing to help save hundreds of lives.” Which reminds us that beneath the glow sticks and camaraderie of the real purpose of the SHINE Walk.
